Description
Beulah Guide Series II fly rods give you affordable performance in single hand freshwater fly fishing. From the smallest stream born brook trout to sea run steelhead, there is a high performance rod in the Guide series II. Each GSII fly rod is designed individually to match the blanks size, power and action with technique and environment and fish. Guide Series II are super light-weight and fun to fish thanks to our new slim blank profile and carbon scrim process. However, the best attribute of G.S. II is how beautiful, compressed, bullet-shaped loops form no matter your casting style.
Guide Series II cosmetics include: Dark olive blank color, refined 2-tone wraps, Chrome-over -stainless guides and reel seats with hardwood inserts (3,4,5,6,) or anodized aluminum (9’0” 7/10’0” 7). Each rod comes with a rod sock and tube.
Shayne Wadlow –
Just bought this one based on the recent Red’s Fly shop review. This rod will be a replacement for a 488 Platinum that I lost thanks to my stupidity. I wanted to go with with a 9′ rod and was leaning on a 5 wt until I watched Joe’s review of the 490, sold me right away! I haven’t had a chance to fish it yet but first impressions are good, beautiful looking rod, love the olive blank over the new G2 black. Two things that I noticed that are my justification for only 4 stars out of 5 right now, first is cork quality has gone way down, looks good until you remove the plastic wrap and wipe all the dust off and see the incredible amount of filler being used. I use a cork sealer so will help with durability but even accentuates the imperfections of the cork being used that much more unfortunately. Second, the logo and writing on the butt section are on the top of the rod when the reel is attached rather than on the side like all my other Beulah rods, again not a big deal in the rod function. I like to keep my catches wet and lay the rod beside it usually on it’s side and the writing will not be visible in any pics. Will follow up with how the rod performs once the season opens up here and I can get on the water.
